I am a student at East Carolina University, in Greenville, North Carolina. My studies currently include a double major in both Biochemistry (B.S.), as well as a major in Chemistry (B.S.). I also am taking up a minor in Statistics, as if my academic life wasn't difficult enough. Im not going to put you to sleep with a lengthy talk about what I am studying, but I will tell you about me, and why you want me to be your personal tutor. Roughly two years ago I began tutoring at the Pirate Academic Success Center (formerly Pirate Tutoring Center) on main campus East Carolina University. Here, I spent a year and a half developing my craft of teaching students basic and upper level Biology concepts. Of course, like all tutors, I had no idea what I was doing at first. However, I garnered enough hours and training to become level 1 certified through the PASC (this certification holds no weight outside of ECU unfortunately). While my methods may be unorthodox, I do believe I bring a particular set of skills to the table that are a must for helping students understand upper level Biological/Biochemical concepts. My expertise, however, truly lies in the teaching of Biochemistry. Biochemistry, as well as Bioinformatics, form the construct that is my passion in academics. I devote a very large amount of my time to creating ways to present lectures for Biochemistry in a way that students will stay engaged and excited throughout. So far, due to my experience in both undergraduate and graduate Biochemistry, I can confidently say that I can teach you any concept in Biochemistry and you will leave feeling much more confident then you were when our session began. In any given session, you can expect me to first reach out to you before the session even begins to put together a list of concepts that you specifically need to go over. From there, I will create an informative and engaging lecture to present to you online via the varsity tutors platform, or in person. Here, in lecture, I will use a multitude of techniques, encompassing most learning styles so that you take away and retain a large amount of information from our session. As the session is in progress, I ask that you take notes and think thoroughly on questions when I present them too you, as these are questions that I have selected to make you question everything... kind of. At the end of the session, I will have you give me a brief synopsis of what we covered, immediately followed by a sort of "post-test" that I will create prior to the session. This test will allow for me to see how well you understand the information as well as give you the chance to see your improvement. I will follow up with you as needed, and will even send you scanned copies of the lecture that I create for our session. I hope this explains my technique pretty thoroughly.

Outside of tutoring, I am a pretty relaxed guy. I enjoy my long days binging on my Netflix account, or hanging out with either my service or social fraternity. I do have the GRE coming up very soon, and with that, I will finally be submitting graduate school applications in December.
