I'm a college chemistry lecturer and laboratory instructor who enjoys helping students learn! I've taught college courses for the past 5 years as a professor, and the preceding 5 years as a graduate student while obtaining my PhD. I graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Biotechnology, and currently working towards my Masters at New York University. As a current student, I understand various learning strategies and the different study techniques. I have extensive tutoring experience, serving as a tutor in Biology, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. In these sessions, I will use real life examples to make science fun and enjoyable! I am entering my senior year at the University of Kansas. My course of study is BA Biochemistry and I am also working towards obtaining departmental honors in biology. I hope to attend dental school after completing undergrad. My primary goal as a tutor is to build confidence in my students by improving their study habits and their ability to tackle academic weaknesses. I plan on achieving this by going through fundamental questions of the particular discipline and then working with the student in the specific areas of the discipline that they are struggling with. From previous tutoring experience, I have learned that each student has varying learning styles. Accordingly, I strive to adapt my teaching style for each of my students so that their academic potential is maximized.I have mainly tutored high-school students and college students. In high school, as a junior and senior, I tutored many different math courses and I also tutored in biology/chemistry. In university, I have tutored in general chemistry.My favorite subjects to teach are general chemistry and biology. I am a recent graduate from Oregon Health and Science University. I received my Master of Public Health degree with a focus on Environmental Systems and Human Health. Prior to graduate school I attended the University of Nevada, Reno and received my Bachelor of Science in Community Health Sciences with a focus on Public Health. I began working as a tutor at my college and then worked as a teaching assistant in the Gross Anatomy and Cell Biology Labs.From there I went to medical school in Brooklyn, NY where I am currently a fourth year medical student in line to receive my MD in 2022. During medical school I continued developing my passion for teaching. Running tutoring sessions for my peers and underclassmen, organizing a medical education and exposure program for high school students known as HPREP, creating educational materials in the form of video demonstrations, and eventually being hired as an adjunct professor of Gross Anatomy for the Occupational Therapy program at Downstate Medical Center. I am currently in the medical education track at my school and in training to become a full-time faculty member after graduating.My teaching style is focused on meeting the student where they are. I always begin assessing the current knowledge base and level of understanding so I can have a good idea of where to start. From there we will work together and I will adapt my teaching style according to how the student best assimilates knowledge. I am a current undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I am a Biochemistry major and Philosophy minor, with years of experience tutoring students. Through high school, I tutored kids in the ACT, math, science, literature, and debate. My favorite subject to tutor is Chemistry, as I have taken Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry(1 and 2). I believe that tutoring is a two way street, with the student learning about the material, but the teacher learning about how the student interacts with the material. Due to this, I am a very hands-on tutor who is always available for a text/call outside of class. Outside of academia, I am a singer and have been for 13 years now - a choir singer for 7 years and now in a premier acapella group at the University of Michigan.

I have had numerous opportunities to tutor students of various ages primarily in subjects that pertain to my program of study, especially chemistry. Throughout my years of study, I have come to the realization that only after meticulous examination of all the possible scenarios and exceptions of a particular phenomenon can we recognize patterns that may have facilitated our initial attempt to understand it in the first place. I would teach my classes using superheroes, football references, mythbusters, and even relate some material to the school bus. In my office hours, I would be able to find out what interested the students and come up with an example that they would be able to understand. In the sciences, I believe learning should be as much hands on as possible and I used a variety of outside resources to teach various concepts, whether it would be using balloons, dry ice, tennis balls and paper wads, or even LIGHTING WATER ON FIRE. In addition to all of the chemistry subjects (up to a graduate level), I am qualified to teach physics, algebras 1-4, geometry, pre-calculus, and can do SAT and ACT math prep.Outside of the classroom I enjoy watching football and college basketball, going to broadway shows like the Book of Mormon, Wicked, and Monty Python's Spamalot, and going to comic book conventions. After experiencing DragonCon while living in the Atlanta area, there is nothing more fun than watching people dress up in Halloween costumes when it's not Halloween. Finally, I am an avid bowler and love to cook as these are my releases when I am over stressed.

Electron flow, negative to positive, is the name of the game!I'm a process development chemist in Boston, MA. My knowledge of and appreciation for organic chemistry powers each of my workdays! While my career provides sufficient scientific stimuli, I still have the urge to relive the simpler/happier days (O-chem class)!Master's degree in organic chemistry with years of collegiate tutoring experience.Through my experience, I have gained a variety of teaching and interpersonal skills, and a learner's perspective.
