What is your teaching philosophy?
Each teacher has to play as messenger role to show the students their right way, and push them to love what they are studying. I've always wanted to be in a classroom surrounded by students waiting to get information from me. That make me more enthusiastic to give them what they want by creating an excellent method -- funny and serious at the same time -- like enjoying some plays and games in order to help them understand the subject.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
After serious and careful preparation to offer students the sense of the subject that I will teach, it must be general presentation and acquaintance between the students with each other and their teacher. Next will be an introduction about the subject.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I'll show them excellent strategies, like encouraging the student who made efforts by giving good feedback to him in the event he made a mistake, and create a self or peer assessment to develop their potential with a deeper understanding. another very important thing is to develop some communication between students to resolve problems.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
First of all ,we avoid a boring class and create some energy between students, like responding to questions with a loud voice and letting everyone participate in the classroom. Secondly, let the students watch some short movies about some heroes struggling with something at first, but they never give up. Thirdly, encouraging the lowest student by positive words to bring them up to the others.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Shyness is something that the students struggle with, so the teacher has to play an important role in class, like checking each student's attitude and trying to build equality between them by asking the lowest student about their lives, and if have some personnel problems and try to resolve them in a positive way. There are some students struggling with some subjects, so they're always need the teacher's help. The best solution is giving them more homework and letting them participate in the classroom, encouraging them even when they make mistakes.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
There is nothing impossible; we have to teach them this concept . My help will be focusing on this kind of student struggling with reading comprehension by giving them more work and pushing them to start reading short passages every day. then I'll ask them the general idea from the short passage.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I have to be a model for them by telling them my short story when I was struggling with English at first coming to the U.S.A. Everybody likes to be encouraged through some positive words. I show appreciation when they advance in their studies.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
By showing him the interesting things and asking him to help other students.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
The best way to maximize his confidence is never blaming him when he makes mistakes, and teaching him to prove his status on the class. Let all students encourage him.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I evaluate his needs by asking him and testing him.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I will focus on his reaction in the classroom and try to know if he understood the subject or not.
