I am a current student at Strayer University due to graduate 2017. I am a previous student of Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw State) and Armstrong Atlantic State University. I began tutoring in 2010 as a freshman in college at AASU. I received several credits toward a degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Science/English. I experienced field work in a 3rd-grade math classroom. I also assisted with 3rd-5th grade math research with my Education professor Dr. Yang. I intend to go back to Berry College for an education degree. I have since tutored several ages, including as young as 3rd grade, to an adult undergraduate college student. I have tutored math, English, Spanish, and SAT prep. I love teaching the philosophies and core reasoning behind topics. I have tutored students with disabilities and those with English as their second language. I am eager to learn with you!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

When I have a student struggling with reading comprehension, it is most vital to me to create a scenario they can relate to. I use a 3-step method: Introduce, Scenario, and Reiterate. First, I identify what the content is and how I can relate it to the student. Then, I create a scenario that builds comprehension through personal experience or relation to the content from the student's life or previous material. Lastly, I reintroduce the concepts so that the student grasps the content and can build further comprehension using my example and guidance.
