I believe teaching and learning are a combination of factors that come together to help people better themselves on a daily basis. Hard work, creativity, helping others, goal setting, and connecting to one's own personal struggles and triumphs are integral to giving the teacher and student a chance to excel and achieve the small wins necessary to build up to sustained success.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Teaching is a combination of speaking, listening, writing, motivating, and connecting to the student's goal. When the teacher and student are focused on the goal, then hard work, creativity, and mindfulness are the next steps to accomplishing the goal set forth.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In my first session, I would ask questions and get an idea as to how the student views their own education. I would try to get an idea of what would be the best ways to connect with the student while also engaging them with them with the material they have previously struggled with. We would have a mini-session where I get to see first hand where a student is. As we continue after that first session, I would try to guide the student into setting goals and giving them a clear idea of what skill they are trying to improve.
