I would help a student stay motivated by ensuring their goals are short term and realistic.

In a typical first session with a student, I would include introductions and a couple of questions to determine where the student needs specific help.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I help students who are struggling with reading comprehension by giving them paragraphs and asking them questions.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Two strategies I have found successful when working with students is Whole Brain Teaching and manipulatives.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I would help a student get excited about a subject they are not interested in by making a connection between the student and the topic.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

A technique I would use to see if a student understands the material is asking questions and having the student repeat the process or steps to me.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

I help build students' confidence in a subject by making sure there is positive feedback every chance it may arise.

I would evaluate a student's needs by asking introduction questions and evaluating their response.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I adapt my tutoring to different students by basing the information given on the different level of each student.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

The types of materials I use during a typical tutoring lesson is hands; I do this by getting the students actively engaged in the lesson.
