I am a current full time Department of Education Instructor and possess a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mathematics and Special Education. I hold a total of 5 teaching certifications in my field. I have 10 years of tutoring experience. In my spare time I tutor students who need extra help understanding Algebra.

Often students have great difficulties transitioning from middle school to high school; especially in their Math classes. These students do not even realize they are in trouble until the end of the school year comes and they are sitting in their desk taking the Algebra Regent for the first time. I have had countless students tell me they wish they would have known sooner to start preparing for this exam. Students do not seem to realize how important passing the Regent exam is. They think they are able to study for a few weeks and be “okay.” This exam requires months and months of preparation. I can help your child prepare for this exam and allow them feeling confident and ready to take the test. This is also another problem with students, when they do not know what to expect on the exam, they become frustrated and blank out in the middle of the test. It is important I teach them coping techniques and allow them to feel assured and do their best.

I have a passion for teaching and helping my students succeed. I believe in going above and beyond in my work and taking pride in what I do because when my student has achieved success, I know I have done my job as a teacher. I am very friendly and patient, and refuse to move on to a new topic, until I see that my student completely and thoroughly understands the material. I do not teach from the textbook. I create my own lesson plans that students can easily understand. I have been told before that my lesson plans are “too easy.” I take that as a compliment because it means my students really understand the material. After all, any great teacher knows that teaching is all about presentation and clarity. I make sure to keep my students engaged and entertained at all times. I often do silly things to help them remember. Students tell me “I hear your voice in my head while I’m taking the exam.” I even create my own “math games” and learning tools to better help the student understand in ways they cannot do with old fashioned pencil and paper.

Every student is different and has their own individual unique needs. As their teacher, I go at the pace of the student. I believe that having experience with special education children helped me to be able to identify the students’ needs and break down the problem into smaller parts and into simpler terms. Not everyone can grasp the material as quickly as others and I work with them at a steady pace. If you choose to work with me, I promise to do my best in helping your child succeed.

I am an expert in helping students pass the Common Core Algebra 1 Exam. I have invented my own tricks on the calculator on how to solve questions and always guarantee the correct answer.

I am dual certified and have a total of 5 teaching licenses which includes middle school mathematics, high school mathematics, elementary mathematics, Master's degree in Special Education grades K-12.

I create a friendly environment where students can ask me questions at any time. I not only help students understand the material, I work with them on time management skills, performing under pressure techniques, how to best answer a question you have no idea how to answer, memorizing formulas and key information, calculator tricks and many more. I can guarantee you that almost no tutor will put in the amount of effort and time for your child as I would. I treat each and every student of mine as if they were my own children. When a parent/guardian hires a tutor, they are putting their trust in them and I take pride in never breaking that trust.
