Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Even the most difficult of subjects can be tackled with a little perspective, hard work, and dedication.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a typical first session we would identify problem areas and develop a set of goals to work towards by the end of our sessions.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By teaching students the skills to break down complex problems into simpler components.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I would help a student stay motivated through positive reinforcement. It is important to reward yourself when you have that aha moment because it will push you to keep wanting to have those moments.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

If a student were having difficulty learning a skill or concept I would try to find a way to make the skill or concept relevant to the student. In my experience, when people are able to connect what they are learning to real life, they are more likely to retain and understand the information.
