Biology is an important course for anyone considering a future in medicine, immunology, research, or other sciences. It's also a required class for many high school students. Whatever your reason for wanting to focus on biology, a private tutor can try to help you raise your grade and focus on what's really important. Whether you're studying genetics or an introduction to botany, biology can be exceptionally interesting but also a bit of a challenge. For help understanding your biology course in Paterson, NJ, contact Varsity Tutors.

Keeping the terminology straight can be frustrating enough. Many students have a hard time deciphering mitosis from meiosis, and telling vacuoles from organelles. If you are struggling with biology, a professional tutor in Paterson might be the answer. Asking for extra help in class can seem impossible. Your teacher has a curriculum to follow, and won't be able to stop just to answer all your questions and work at your pace. A tutor can focus on those areas that are most difficult for you and spend all the time you need explaining biology concepts and correcting mistakes you might be making. You won't have to feel anxious about falling behind in class, and there's no worry about what your classmates will think of you. Use your biology tutor as a resource and a support system.

If biology is simply a science credit that you have to achieve, it can be difficult to take the class seriously. Maybe you don't care that much about cellular respiration or cell biology. You still owe it to yourself to do as well as you can, and to get a grade that's worth of your effort and intellect. We can match you with an enthusiastic biology tutor in Paterson who will encourage you to aim higher. When biology is presented in a new way, perhaps you'll find it more interesting, and you'll be willing to try a little harder to understand what you're learning and do well.

For students who are thinking about advanced biology study or a career in the field, tutoring can have another whole set of benefits. A biology tutor in Paterson, NJ, might be your key to success. Not only might you be able to explore the subject matter more deeply, you'll also be able to talk about additional courses you should take and how you can best prepare for the future. Your biology tutor will meet any time or place that is convenient for you. Work together online or in-person. You might be impressed at how much you can accomplish.

Biology Tutoring review by Abir in Paterson, NJ
I tutored the student on identifying cell organelles for his quiz this Wednesday. Since receiving a poor grade on his first exam in this course, he has greatly improved. He received a 90% on his 2nd exam following a few tutoring sessions about cell structure and function. During our session, I quizzed him using unlabeled cell diagrams and asking him to identify various cell structures. I also asked him about the function of each structure to keep him from forgetting what he learned last week, though organelle functions will not be directly tested on this quiz.

The student has a test tomorrow on the basic structure and function of the cell and the organelles. We went through her review sheet and talked about each organelle. We also discussed the differences between plant and animal cells, and the different types of transportation across the cell membrane. By breaking up the material into more manageable sections she was able to achieve an excellent understanding by the end of the session.

We reviewed the student's laboratory results and analysis questions for his osmosis lab and for his carrot diffusion lab. We spent a large amount of time using Excel to make a graph of the lab results for the carrot diffusion lab. Our graph was only able to show the percent change in mass by sucrose molarity rather than the percent change in mass according to group results. I think our problem was the way we were arranging our data, and due to time constraints he was going to ask his instructor more about the setup in excel for graphing the class results. We also took a few minutes to review some of the vocabulary for next weeks quiz. He was familiar and well versed with many of the words from osmosis, diffusion and the cell but needed to review more vocabulary from cell signaling which his instructor had not yet covered.

Biology Tutoring review by Kaydian in Paterson, NJ
During this session, we reviewed her last test (Chapter 7). I went through each question she got incorrect and demonstrated how to break the questions down and draw diagrams to help her sort the information. I showed her how to apply her knowledge of the material to problems that seem unfamiliar. In preparation for the next test, I instructed her to make flashcards to get used to the vocabulary and I will be bringing sample questions for her to practice at the next session.

Biology Tutoring review by Mathew in Paterson, NJ
Since the student did not yet have a chance to read the new material, I began the session by teaching some of the basic elements of the next chapters. I explained briefly mitosis and meiosis as well as some cell signaling material. We began his next homework assignment together and I helped explain the material as we went along. I provided more practice test questions for the next exam.

Biology Tutoring review by Claire in Paterson, NJ
Today the student and I covered the rest of the chapter on immunology. We also went over adaptive immunity once again including antigens, b-cells, and t-cells. I had him read over the section and explain the diagrams to me. He had some trouble understanding MHC molecules and their role with T-Helper cells, which I explained to him. At the end I summarized what he should focus on and understand the difference of.
