How would you help a student stay motivated?
Reinforcing the right answers. Encouraging them to practice and giving examples of why and how learning brings satisfaction and success.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Use different samples and practice of what he has used before, trying to make him more curious and liking it.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Providing them with resources that are at their reading level so they can move forward while learning new vocabulary and improving their comprehension.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Practice.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student is different, but equally capable to learn and grow.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would introduce myself and I would ask questions about their hobbies, interests, daily basics errands, skills and every kind of information that would help both of us in order to move forward with the subject that they are failing and why.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Providing with resources that are available for them. Giving them (easy at the beginning) practical exercises that makes them feel comfortable and self-confident about the subject.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Asking them about that same content with different questions or different practices.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Reinforcing the correct answers. Encouraging them to keep working and showing their process and growth of learning.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Having a data base information that proves the growth of each student in each subject and contents.
