I really like math and science and I understand that most of my students don't. Most of my students would rather do anything else besides math homework or study for a science test. You don't have to love the subject like I do in order to be successful. My goal is to make math easy for you so you can get it done and not have to worry about it anymore.
I have a BS in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly SLO and I'm also a submarine veteran. For the last couple years, I worked for a medical device company building new robotic instrument prototypes. I've tutored privately off and on for about 10 years and I was a teacher's aide in college. Tutoring doesn't even feel like work to me because I enjoy it so much, even when students try to be difficult.
I typically tutor algebra and calculus, which seem to be high in demand. My favorite subjects to teach are calculus and physics. With calculus, there's very little memorization when you understand the fundamentals of limits. Also, there are several ways to approach the material: graphically for those more visual, theoretical for those that like equations, and plug-and-chug for those that prefer processes. Physics is great because same relationships that occur in your everyday experience also occur in space between planets and in atoms between particles.
