Throughout my many years in school, my friends, acquaintances, and classmates have turned to me for help understanding material being taught in classes we have taken together. I have helped teach people in many school subjects, but I am particularly experienced in math tutoring. I see math as a puzzle that can be easily solved if one becomes familiar with all the rules; furthermore, these rules are interconnected, so understanding one leads to understanding more. As a tutor, I build links between mathematical concepts rather than starting from scratch every time. My success as a tutor is also in part due to my patience with anyone struggling to understand a concept; I am willing to repeat something I have said or done many times. Additionally, if I am teaching someone a skill, I make sure to let them try it, and ensure them that getting it wrong a few times is alright. It's impossible to learn without making mistakes, and even tougher to learn without someone guiding the way.
I hope to make middle school and high school math as understandable for other students as it has been for me.
