I graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Pure Mathematics and a secondary teaching certification. Being a math teacher is fundamental to my identity. The school where I teach is small enough that I teach almost every math class, and I have designed my own curriculum. This gives me a lot of opportunities to try out new and exciting ways to present information. Many of my students are non-traditional learners, whether they have learning differences, anxiety, ADHD, and/or are just outside-the-box thinkers. I have worked with math learners from elementary to high school in all areas of mathematics. My goal in life is to get previously frustrated or unhappy students to understand math and stop being so nervous about it. When I'm not striving towards that lofty goal, I'm trying to relax by doing yoga, reading novels, and eating lots of cupcakes.
