I received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with High Honors Distinction from the University of Oregon, and will be working towards a Master's Degree in Elementary Education this upcoming year. I have over four years experience tutoring, teaching, and mentoring students (ages 4-21) from very diverse backgrounds and education levels in various subjects like Math, English, Reading, Writing, Spanish, Science, and Career Skills. I have helped at risk students prepare for their GEDs and find employment, native Spanish speakers learn and practice English in Chile, and toddlers and pre-schoolers develop life skills and motor coordination. These experiences have helped me understand that each student learns at their own pace and in their own way, and according to these different learning styles, I have developed many creative and fun ways to help students learn and achieve their academic goals.
Apart from education, my three passions are dancing, traveling, and snowboarding. I was a competitive dancer for ten years, and have recently started loving Cumbia, Salsa, and Tango. After my time teaching in Chile, I spent two months backpacking throughout South and Central America, and really loved all of the beautiful cultures and people I encountered. I would love to travel to Europe sometime soon! As far snowboarding, well, unfortunately Arizona is not the best place to pursue this; however, as soon as I can, I'll take a trip somewhere snowy!
