I am a highly interested candidate to become your tutor As a recent graduate of Rutgers University at New Brunswick with a M.Ed. in Life Science Education and a B.A. in Biological Sciences, I have been involved with a vast amount of science from biochemistry to physics of sound, and am currently continuing to explore. In addition to completing my Masters for Life Science Education, I am also a certified Chemistry teacher. I am currently teaching at a top New Jersey High School as a CP Biology, AP Biology, and Forensic Science teacher.
I am looking to tutor in biology, chemistry, algebra 1 and algebra 2. Biology and Chemistry are my favorite subjects to tutor in because they reflect my teaching philosophy the best. My philosophy includes: having students practice scientific literacy that bolsters content knowledge, learn through strategy based methods meaning applying concepts for the long term, and lastly, correcting misconceptions through experimentation and student-centered learning. Strategies such as hypothesis formation and elaboration of evidence as well as experimental design can be applied cross curricula.
My students describe me as engaging, personable, someone they can relate to. I am a young teacher, so I do not forget how hard struggling through material can be. My goal is to take the stress off my students and have them learn in a safe and most importantly fun environment.
A few things about myself: I am a die hard New York Jets fan, I love non-fiction and learning through reading well thought out books, and I love board games.
