I am a writing instructor and mentor with years of experience teaching at the college level and working one-on-one with students. I received my M.F.A in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and my B.A in English (Writing Emphasis) from Kalamazoo College. I have held two nationally competitive writing and teaching fellowships (at the University of Louisville and the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing) where I taught composition, creative writing, and literature, as well as a graduate level course on the pedagogy of writing. I have worked individually and intensively with students on personal essays, research papers, position pieces, short stories, poems, writing portfolios, and more. I enjoy working with students at all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming and planning to revising and polishing. I believe that clear, creative, and efficient writing is a necessary tool for every student, one that will serve him or her well in school and beyond. Everyone can become a better writer, and I enjoy being part of that process. When I am not writing or teaching writing, I spend my free time reading, listening to music, or drawing with my three-year-old son, who is just learning to write his name!
