I am a graduate of National Taiwan University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Science and Technology. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math, Science, and Mandarin Chinese. Having struggled with these subjects myself in high school, I understand the difficulties and discrimination faced by students in the classroom setting.
Due to my father's job relocation, I was sent to Taiwan to complete high school. I faced a lot of discrimination amongst local students and teachers because I barely spoke Chinese and could not keep up with their Math and Science. I even scored second to last in my first exam. But through independent problem-solving, perseverance, and continued support and encouragement from my homeroom teacher Mr. Tan, I made top three in my school by my third year and became the first student from my school in years to make it to the National Taiwan University.
Starting in my 2nd year of university, I have tutored elementary, middle school, and high school students extensively, offering high dedication to student development and independent problem solving. In my experience with helping struggling students, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable results!) in Science as I demonstrate how certain areas can be applied to their daily lives with fun facts, videos, and even experiments (in a guided and safe setting).
I am a firm advocate of independent learning and problem-solving, believing effort fueled by a love for learning to be absolutely necessary to succeed in class and life in general. I always try to impact this appreciation upon students and inspire them to be curious and always ask questions, even outside the classroom setting.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing (particularly my own novels), playing the piano, drawing, inline skating, and table tennis.
