I earned a Masters degree in Education with a focus on TESOL and reading from Regent University. Since graduating, I have taught as an elementary school teacher and as an adjunct professor. As a licensed ESL instructor, I have tutored adults in conversational English. I have also tutored a variety of other subjects, including essay writing, ISEE and SSAT test prep, and reading. I encourage learners of all ages to celebrate their accomplishments regardless of how big or small those accomplishments might be, and I try to motivate my students by making learning fun. I believe that education is necessary for improved quality of life and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, travelling and spending quality time with family.

For the past 23 years, I have taught young men and women in a wide array of subjects, including business, statistics, law, math, computers, sciences and the arts. Additionally, I help students (both young and old) who are working on their bar exams and professional certifications/licensures, which includes overall exam prep, essay/paper development, and multiple choice mastery. During my undergraduate years, I worked as a multi-subject tutor, helping the sports teams players in their various subjects. Upon starting my law practice in 2002, I maintained an adjunct teaching job with a local college to maintain a connection with the students/professors and continue with my love for teaching. I received my law degree (JD) in 1999 from Regent University School of Law and my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in 2009 from Arizona State University. In that time, I was certified a Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt, which means I enjoy statistics, statistical process control, and data analysis. As a 16 year home school veteran, I have taught every grade K-12 and lead my own four children through every core academic subject. It is especially rewarding to help students grasp that academic subjects really do matter in real life.There is something wonderful about every age group but I must admit elementary students are my favorite. Likewise, I am good at Math, Essay Writing, and Government, but Language Arts is my favorite subject to teach.

I hold a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Early Childhood Studies while working on a Ph.D. in Leadership. Most of my teaching experience has been with elementary-aged students and young adults, and I have also taught ESL/ELL. My teaching philosophy is that everyone deserves the right to education and, more so, quality education. My love for teaching has taken me to Ghana, Poland, and Florida. My experiences have highlighted the importance of creating inclusive (safe) spaces for all. I believe that students' needs should be prioritized to ensure that they are being educated in the most efficient manner for them.

I'm a creative educator with a background in animation, digital media, and English language instruction. I hold a B.A. in Animation and have worked professionally as an editor in photography studios and as an early childhood educator. Along the way, I've developed a strong understanding of how to communicate complex ideas visually and verbally which directly informs my teaching style and helps me connect with students effectively. Coming from a homeschooling background, I've come to deeply value personalized, one-on-one learning. I don't believe there's a single "right" way to learn, just the way that works best for each person. My approach is all about finding that method, adapting to your pace, and supporting you in a way that feels natural and encouraging.

I was born and raised in Iceland. I have a BA in French from University of Iceland and an MFA in Acting from Regent University. I have tutored for about a year in French and Languages. I find tutoring very rewarding and I am incredibly proud of all of my students. In my opinion, teaching is an art form that requires a committed focus from both the teacher and the student. Further, I am starting to appreciate American Football more and more, but I do not have a specific team that I root for maybe I will become a Broncos fan. Finally, reading has always been a big part of my life, and I always have to have a least one book on my nightstand. Right now, I prefer to read Scandinavian crime novels, such as Stieg Larssons Girl With the Dragoon Tattoo and Jussi Adler Olsons Department Q series.

I am Jonathan Starbuck. I am currenting going into my third year of law school and I have a Bachelor's in Government. I am a dual graduate of Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a concentration in Mass Communication Journalism and a Master of Arts Degree in English.
