I went to Salisbury University and was a Nursing Major with a minor in Psychology. I also wrote my honors thesis in women's health and mental health. I love to help those learn about nursing topics and study for the NCLEX! I went to school during the COVID pandemic and understand the importance of receiving all the information possible to be a confident RN! I love helping people connect with material and find helpful ways to remember information. I am currently an ER RN with ACLS and BLS training.

I started my healthcare career working as a CNA, I then worked as a Medical Assistant, RN (with an ADN degree), BSN, MSN, and now I have an EDD in adult education. Obviously, I did not know when to stop....lol, no, just kidding, I ALWAYS wanted to teach, it just took me a minute to get where I wanted to be but and I did it and truly LOVE teaching, my passion is helping you to become successful. I received my first nuring degree in Pensacola Fl at Pensacola Jr. College, then my BSN and MSN are from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL, and most recently I received my Doctor of Education degree from Northcentral University. I have been a traditional and non-traditional student in the sense of being older and also taking online classes, trust me, I know that online is NOT easy, it take a lot more disclipline and dedication. I have taught in both traditional and online settings as well. I also had the pleasure and was blessed to be able to participate in a study abroad course during my MSN program in South Africa, I LOVED IT!!!! That was such a blessing and helped me in so many ways. We were imersed in the healthcare of the country, worked in public and private hospitals, the health department, hospice, home health, and spoke to the nursing class at the Nelson Mandela School of Nursing and participated in a round table with the Prime Minister of Health at the Health Department in Port Elizabeth. OMG what a once in a lifetime experience that I will always treasure. Even though we were working, it was so exciting to see the culture of healthcare in such an amazing place. Learning about the customs, needs, wishes, and mannerisms of the healthcare system as well as seeing how much we have in common, just in a somewhat different way. That experience was one I will always cherish. The pics I took on my trip are posted in my office and I refer to them as my happy place.In my nursing career I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, I have taught in small private schools all the way up to the University of Alabama Huntsville and even been the Nursing Department Chair of a nursing program. I have not ever had a class or taught a course I did not enjoy. If I had to pick one as my favorite it would be teaching the babies as I like to call them, meaning the first semester students. I love setting the bar and seeing just how far you will go with it. I absolutely love instilling a fresh, firm foundation in new students, expanding their minds, opening them up to new and exciting things, and helping shape them in their journey to become healthcare professionals. I understand that each and every student is unique with special needs. There is no such thing as one size fits all. I do my best to adapt my teaching to the student or group of students I have in front of me at the time, I use a variety of teaching strategies, no two classes are exactly the same as I am always trying to perfect my teaching skills just as I am trying to help you become successful in your venture. I am a graduate of Bevill State Community College and will graduate with my BSN from Mercer University in 2022. I have been a RN for 21 years, the last 19 of which have been in oncology. I am currently an oncology nurse navigator and have a certification as a BMTCN (bone marrow transplant certified nurse). I completed the Woodruff Health Educators Academy Teaching Fellowship at Emory University and have a passion for teaching new CNAs, LPNs, and RNs about the profession. I am a mentor with ANA (American Nurses Association) and am very patient, kind, and able to teach students with different learning styles. I tutor in NCLEX and CNA preparation and enjoy both immensely. I have experience with the anatomy of national exams and have served on the Passing Score Task Force for the BMTCN exam with the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. I enjoy the learning process and being part of the student's journey to passing their exams and accomplishing their career goals. In my spare time, I like to watch HGTV (House Hunters International).

While I tutor nursing and nurse practitioner students, I am most passionate about mentoring new RN's and health care providers (NP's and PA's). I also specialize in tutoring students who have not been successful in passing their NCLEX or ANCC. My goal is to relieve as much stress for my mentees while they're transitioning into their new role.
