I am an undergraduate student in my junior year at the University of Georgia. It is currently my second semester in the Tull School of Accounting here and I plan on pursuing a Masters of Accountancy in the graduate program. I have years of experience tutoring during my time as a member of a Math Honors Society. My focus is on tutoring is SAT math, AP and college statistics, beginner accounting courses, and most other mathematics high school courses such as algebra, calculus, etc. I'm both friendly and relatable and am eager to start working with you.

Then, I received my Master of Art in Criminal Justice from the University of Memphis, a Master of Teaching in Special Education, and Graduate Certificates in Community College Teaching and Leadership, Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, IDT - Design and Development, and IDT- K-12 Educational Technology.I will graduate with my Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology this July. I taught Special Education for 11 years, and now I teach Criminal Justice courses to college students. I also develop online courses. In addition, I tutor and have tutored a variety of students over the years. My educational philosophy is that all children can learn; however, some children learn differently, and others learn at a different pace, but my job is to help them learn.When I'm not working, I like to read, travel with my son, who is autistic, and do arts and crafts.

I have worked with students of various ages, assisting at a preschool in summers, interning at a local elementary school, and tutoring students in high school. My favorite subjects to tutor are English and Reading, and I also tutor in Math (which I have grown to love more recently-- we've had a complicated relationship) and Science. I especially like creative writing, and even won a poetry competition years ago. I believe that learning should be an important part of everyone's life. Mistakes should only be seen as opportunities to grow, and questions are always welcome. Other than teaching, I play ultimate frisbee, dance in the styles of ballet, jazz, and contemporary, and play piano.

I find teaching to be like an offshore fishing trip for tuna. There is a lot of preparation, a long trip is to be expected, but there is nothing like the excitement when you are in the moment and the pay-off at the end of the day is priceless. As a teacher, I bring interest, wonderment, and a sense of accomplishment to the students. Positive behavior support is at the foundation for all of my lessons. I feel that the students deserve to know when they are mastering a skill as well as praise for giving it a try. When looking for a solution to a problem from my students I find there is no wrong answer, only steps toward to learning something new. Finally, I believe the atmosphere between the children and teacher should be light-hearted with structure having an air of safety to blanket the class.

Few people view standardized tests with joy or fondness. It's hard to accept that a single number, derived from hasty answers to abstract questions, can play such a huge role in your future. My own experience as test-taker and test-teacher has convinced me that as a tool for evaluating students, standardized testing has its share of flaws.But the tests aren't unfair or unbeatable; they challenge you to learn a specific language. I don't mean the fancy vocabulary you'll want in a verbal section, but the forms and patterns of the questions themselves. With thoughtful effort, any student can learn to understand the language of test-taking. As someone lucky enough to be fluent, I hope to share with others what I have gained.

Hey! My name is Ellis, I majored in Computer Science at Evergreen State College. Before CS I was a math major and tutored math privately. I absolutely love helping other people to achieve a clear, intuitive understanding of quantitative subjects. It's all too common for folks to struggle with math and even stress out about it. I hope to help more students to realize that math isn't scary. The most important thing is that we take the pressure off. The primary goal of the tutor should be to make the subject approachable and comprehensible. Once we unlock your intuitive quantitative skills you will find things like math and physics are much simpler than you thought!

I first tutored at BYU in the Physics Tutorial Lab, and I absolutely loved it. Helping people understand the concepts and have it really click for them was immensely satisfying. You can just see that light in their eyes turn on, and bam! They get it. Those kind of experiences led to my decision to make teaching an integral part of my career.I just recently graduate from BYU with a Bachelor's in Physics and will start graduate school in the fall, with the eventual goal of teaching physics in a college setting.Beyond the world of teaching, I love volleyball and the outdoors. Hiking, camping, backpacking, being outside energizes my soul. Volleyball is my sport, and I love teaching the basics to people, but I enjoy practically all sports, despite my pitiable attempts at soccer. Playing guitar, listening to music, and reading books also brighten my life.
