For anyone on the path towards a medical license in the United States, a Philadelphia USMLE prep course can expand the resources available to you as you get ready for the exam, and Varsity Tutors can help you get enrolled. Courses are available that can suit all comers, whether you're studying at Drexel University's College of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine, or any other school. If you've already begun your residency and are crossing the final hurdle towards your license, there are courses that can cater to your needs as well. Regardless of your current level of medical knowledge, or how far along you are in the licensing process, a Philadelphia USMLE course can provide you with the tutelage and feedback of an expert instructor and a group of like-minded medical students to study alongside, all in a convenient online course.
What material will a Philadelphia USMLE class cover?
The USMLE is broken up into three separate tests, known as Steps. Steps 1 and 2 are usually taken in the second and fourth years of medical school, respectively, and you'll likely take Step 3 within your first couple of years of residency. As the USMLE is intended to assess your ability to treat patients at the clinical level without supervision, the subject matter covered on the test is broad. There's too much to list here, but you'll cover a variety of bodily systems like the Blood & Lymphoreticular System, Skin & Subcutaneous Tissue, the Nervous System & Special Senses, and so on. You'll also answer questions on topics like Social Sciences and Behavioral Health.
In addition to providing you with a rigorous review of the medical knowledge you'll be tested on, a Philadelphia USMLE course can also give you insight into the workings of the test and assist you in developing test-taking strategies that may work best for you on test day. The structure of the test will differ depending on which Step you're taking, so it may be important to be informed. Step 1 will require you to answer seven hours of multiple-choice questions. Step 2 will require eight hours of multiple-choice testing on the Clinical Knowledge section and a second Clinical Skills section where you'll have to assess 12 patient cases. Step 3 involves ten and a half hours of multiple-choice testing spread over two days, plus 13 computer-based case simulations that you'll need to address. You may be able to imagine how important an understanding of the USMLE, plus solid test-taking skills, can be when you're trying to pace yourself for an eight-hour stretch of testing.
How can a Philadelphia USMLE course help me learn this material?
Your Philadelphia USMLE class will be presented entirely online which provides convenience and flexibility. An online class allows for many class times to be offered, so no matter how busy or unorthodox your schedule is, there may be something that's perfect for your needs. You also won't have to worry about squeezing an extra commute into your day which can allow you more time for studying, and also can save you money. You'll be able to access your USMLE class from anywhere that you have an internet connection, so you can study wherever you feel most comfortable.
The class is taught by an experienced, vetted instructor over video chat, so you'll be able to see, hear, and speak with your instructor and your classmates just as if you'd gathered in a traditional classroom. Your instructor can teach lessons reviewing the medical knowledge that may be required by the USMLE, lead group learning activities, and encourage discussions between you and your classmates. Collaborative learning environments have been demonstrated to help students learn new information and retain information long-term, so by working through your USMLE prep with your fellow students, you can feel assured that you're aiming for success on the test. By allowing for this type of engagement with other students, a Philadelphia USMLE class can expose you to new perspectives on material, deepening your understanding of medical subjects. Plus, if you're finding certain topics particularly difficult, you'll be able to request one-on-one time with your instructor to ensure that you can have a variety of opportunities to learn.
