I earned my Masters of Teaching at the University of Illinois in the French Department. I received my Bachelor of Arts as a double major in French and Spanish with a focus on literature. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively to Europe and South America as well as visited Japan and for the last 23 years I have been teaching French and Spanish at an international school in Germany. While I have tutored a broad range of subjects primarily with younger students, I am most passionate about language learning. In my experience helping struggling students clearly understand grammatical concepts and find fun ways to memorize new vocabulary has always brought me great joy. I truly believe that through language we have a gateway to understanding other cultures and people. I believe that having access to communication is absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this love of language to my students. In my spare time, I love to scrapbook, cook and most of all travel.

I am a current senior at Coral Reef Senior High in the International Baccalaureate program and will be headed to Dartmouth College in the fall to study environmental science and public policy. I am a native Spanish speaker, and have taken the highest level classes available to me. I am very passionate about science and history, and have tutored those subjects extensively with the Social Studies Honors Society and Science Honors Society at my school. I have also tutored for the past three years with Tutoring For Tomorrow, a local charity that donates tutoring revenue to local nonprofits in need. Since 2013, I have worked as a lifeguard, a summer camp counselor, and as a private tutor in both English and Spanish and a peer tutor in math and history. I have a wide variety of past tutoring experience starting when I was quite young. For the past four years I have worked as a peer tutor through the Higher Education Opportunity Program at Fordham as well as a tutor for elementary-high school students at a private tutoring center in the Bronx. While studying in Spain last year, I was able to work as an English instructor in a bilingual high school in Granada. I also worked through the Americorps program Jumpstart! to built literacy skills in younger children. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, Spanish, and History. I absolutely love helping students improve their writing abilities from the planning stages to editing their essays. Standardized testing, while not something most students look forward to, seems to be one of the areas in which we can see the most timely and remarkable improvements in skill.
