I am excited to be home and help fellow straphangers on their educational paths! My largest wealth of tutoring experience is in foreign languages--particularly French--but I also feel very comfortable editing essays of any kind and working through standardized test concepts. My availability is extremely flexible, and anywhere in New York City works for me. I look forward to working with you.

I am a graduate of Oberlin College and Wesleyan University and I am currently a PhD student at Harvard University. I received my BA in English, my BM in Jazz Studies, and my MA in Ethnomusicology. My PhD research is in West African music. I have many years of experience as a tutor, beginning as a writing tutor for a college writing center, then giving private music lessons, and working as a teaching assistant for undergraduate students in music and African studies courses. I tutor in many different areas, but my passion is in working with students in writing, literature, critical reading, music, and French. In working to prepare students for standardized tests, I can offer a wide variety of strategies for vocabulary, writing, and time management. As an educator, I am particularly interested in the transitions from high school to college, and from college into the professional world. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing and listening to music, hiking, playing soccer, and spending time outdoors.

I am comfortable tutoring the language at any level. Besides French, I enjoy with students on SAT prep and college application essays. I am passionate about teaching and know what it takes to create a personalized program to help students reach their goals. Outside of tutoring, I'm an avid reader with a particular passion for modern Middle Eastern history, and I love watching cycling and going for bike rides. I am earning dual Bachelors of Science from Duke University and Duke Kunshan University (located in Kunshan, Jiangsu, China) in Behavioral Science-- intended to graduate in 2023. As a former Varsity Tutors student myself, I can confidently say that our services not only allow students to be proud of what they can achieve (for myself it was an SAT score and college admissions essays) but also who they are. Tutoring had a huge impact on my confidence in the classroom and other academic settings (i.e. testing, presentations, etc.) My greatest wish is to pay it forward.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a Master's degree in Management. Before Notre Dame, I studied English Writing and French at Saint Mary's College, and French is by far my tutoring passion. My favorite thing about tutoring is just being able to share the subjects I love with other people. I have previous experience tutoring French and writing at Saint Mary's College, where I have received pedagogical training as a part of my work. I know how to help students become better learners overall, instead of just getting a better grade on one assignment. Outside of the classroom, I love video games, Jane Austin, and singing.

I'm a Math and French major at Brown University, and I've been tutoring for over three years. I have worked with young kids taking elementary-level math, middle school students taking Pre-Algebra and Algebra, high school students taking Pre-Calculus and Calculus, college students taking Calculus I/II and Linear Algebra -- and any level in between! Tutoring is one of my favorite activities, because every student I work with teaches me something new about my field. In addition to doing math and writing French poetry, I play the piano, contract bridge, soccer and tennis. I'm New York City born and raised. I graduated from the University of Chicago last year with a degree in East Asian Languages and Civilizations. I am developing my own teaching methods to evolve traditional East Asian and French language acquisition, and to do this I need even more experience. My course of study has been directed at learning as much as I can about the culture, economy, and history of East Asia, China and Japan in particular. I view myself as someone who is entrepreneurial, collegial, individually motivated to produce high quality work, as well as foster a love of the subject which I teach. I am compassionate and enjoy working with both children and adults. I believe I have something to learn from everyone I meet.
