I am patient and passionate about tutoring, and I waste no time in helping my students to become confident and bold. I will do whatever it takes to make sure that my student is confident in the subject area. It is my duty to make sure that my students own their materials. As a tutor, I dedicate my time to molding my students intellectually and personally. My students improve drastically within the first few weeks of me tutoring them. I am a graduate of Rice University in Houston, Texas where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with a minor in Neuroscience. I then earned my MD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. I am now in residency and training to become a dermatologist . My tutoring experience includes being a neuroscience T.A. during undergrad, an anatomy tutor during medical school, and as a volunteer tutor for middle school-aged children through various organizations. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math and science. I understand that each student requires different strategies to learn and am prepared to provide a unique and adaptable approach to each student. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis or ping pong, watching anime and youtube, and playing with my dog. Hobbies: art, books, reading, cooking, music, writing

I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of IL College of Medicine (graduating in May 2021), and I previously received my Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics and Genomics from Northwestern University. Two things I am passionate about are helping others and mentoring/teaching -- tutoring allows me to do both of these simultaneously! I have previously tutored students ages 5 to >22 in a variety of subjects ranging from different math and science classes, test prep (ACT, SAT, MCAT, USMLE Step 1 and 2), and college/grad school application preparation.

I am currently a 4th year medical student at a US-MD program. I am looking to work with prospective medical school and college applicants. I know how stressful and overwhelming the application process can be, and I am committed to helping students succeed. Having attended an Ivy League University and being accepted to medical school on my first try, I am excited to help students with writing and editing services for personal statements, secondary applications, AMCAS most meaningful activities, Common App essays, or supplementary college essays. I also offer USMLE Step 1 and 2 tutoring.

I am a current graduate student at Boston University getting my Masters of Science in Medical Sciences and will be applying to medical school this year. I also received a Bachelors in Biology from Boston College. I am passionate about inclusion for students with developmental delays and have done clinical research in this field. I have had experience teaching students as young as 5th grade to students in high school and college. Although I have degrees in the sciences and have recent exposure to human biology courses, I am also knowledgeable in other subjects such as English grammar and Reading Comprehension.

I am about to graduate this semester from the University of Illinois at Chicago majoring in Psychology on the pre-med track. I have also been accepted to and will be attending the University of Illinois College of Medicine next year. During my undergraduate experience, I was enrolled in the GPPA Medical Scholars Program and served as a mentor pre-med students. I tutored them in math and science courses as well as medical school level courses offered as a part of this program. I also served as an academic coach for high school and college students for 3 years through a peer tutoring program through my university and really enjoyed my experience working with a diverse group of students. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Psychology, English, Math, and Science. I have also prepped high school students for Standardized Tests, specifically on the ACT English portion. I enjoy working students all of all ages to help build concentration and make their studies feel less intimidating. My teaching method varies with what works best for the student I am tutoring. In our initial talks, we can figure out an efficient system and schedule that benefit you and make your learning experience optimal. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you feel more confident in your studies!

I am a graduate of the Creighton University School of Medicine where I received my M.D. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Philosophy at Marquette University in 2018. During my time at Marquette, I tutored General Biology and General Chemistry, and I was a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry lab. Not only did I enjoy teaching students my age, but I also pursued teaching opportunities for younger students in high school and middle school. I was a gross anatomy instructor for high school students taking tours through the cadaver labs and I was one of the founders of the Marquette Brain Brigade, where a group of undergraduate students came up with demos/lessons in neuroscience to teach middle school students. Moreover, I sought out private tutoring opportunities at a company called Huntington Learning Center both during undergrad and during medical school where I tutored a wide variety of subjects, including ACT/SAT, for virtually all age groups. I am very comfortable teaching various subjects and ages, and I am a laid back and flexible person. The subjects I am most comfortable teaching would be the sciences anywhere from the basic level to graduate school level. I am so grateful for the educators that allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor, and I would love to pass it on and help younger students achieve their goals.

I'm currently a 3rd year Biomedical Engineering student who goes to the Georgia Institute of Technology. I'm a pre-medical student with a goal of becoming a physician. To reach this stage, I have had to do a lot of studying. Material doesn't naturally click with me, and I have done a lot of studying to understand it. I understand that sometimes extra tutoring is needed to help excel in a subject, and it is completely okay to get that help. I'm here to help students whose position I was previously in. Hobbies: reading, music, art, books, writing

Frequently Asked Questions

USMLE builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills that apply across academics and careers. A strong foundation in USMLE opens doors to advanced coursework and prepares students for standardized tests.

Many students find that success in USMLE boosts their confidence in related subjects too.

Common challenges include gaps from earlier material, difficulty with specific concepts, and trouble applying what's learned to new problems. These issues compound quickly in USMLE because topics build on each other.

A tutor identifies exactly where you're stuck, fills in gaps, and gives you targeted practice until the concepts click. That 1-on-1 attention makes a big difference.

Look for someone with strong USMLE knowledge who can explain concepts in multiple ways until you understand. Patience and the ability to adapt to your learning style matter as much as expertise.

Varsity Tutors vets all tutors through background checks, credential review, and teaching evaluation—so you can focus on finding the right personality and teaching approach fit.

For students who are struggling, stuck, or want to excel, tutoring often pays off in better grades, stronger test scores, and reduced stress. The 1-on-1 format lets you move at your own pace and focus on what you actually need.

Many students also develop better study habits that serve them in other subjects.

Most students benefit from 1-2 sessions per week. If you're significantly behind or have a major exam coming up, more frequent sessions can help you catch up faster.

Your tutor can recommend a schedule based on your goals and timeline.

Yes—both are core parts of tutoring. Tutors help you work through challenging homework problems while teaching the underlying concepts, so you're not just getting answers but actually learning.

For exams, tutors provide targeted review, practice problems, and test-taking strategies specific to USMLE.

Tutoring is typically purchased in hour packages, with rates varying by tutor experience and subject complexity. Varsity Tutors offers several package options.

You can discuss pricing during your consultation to find an option that fits your budget and goals.

Your tutor will assess where you are, discuss your goals, and start working on areas where you need the most help. Many students bring current homework or upcoming test material to focus on.

By the end of the session, you'll have a plan for moving forward and a sense of how your tutor approaches teaching USMLE.
