Travel is one of my passions. I have visited many countries in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as a few countries in Asia. In addition, I have spent time living in Brazil, Egypt, El Salvador, Jordan, Mexico, Morocco, South Africa, and Spain. I especially enjoy sharing what I learned from these experiences with others. I also enjoy learning about and discussing the history and culture of the areas where I have spent time and speak the local language. Much of my Arabic reading in recent years focused on the social, cultural, economic, religious and political affairs of Egypt from the early 20th century until today. I have also read several books written in Egyptian dialect that portray life in contemporary Egypt. The podcasts I follow include a history program from Spain and news programs from NPR, The Economist, and Foreign Policy. I also follow Arabic language programs on current affairs from several countries. When I find time to give my full attention to AV content, I follow a few Egyptian intellectuals on YouTube as well as documentaries and other programs in Arabic on topics such as religion and politics in contemporary Arab society, Middle Eastern history, migration, the environment, and various cultural topics. Finally, I enjoy listening to several genres of music including classic rock, hard rock, metal, grunge, alternative rock, Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), rock en español, and other types of Latin and Middle Eastern music.
