I am an educator and biomedical engineering student with a passion for helping learners unlock their potential in science, technology, and creative problem-solving. Over the years, I've worked with students in a variety of settings from international high school classrooms to after-school STEM programs and hands-on design workshops. What drives me is witnessing the moment when a concept clicks for a student and seeing their confidence grow as a result. I'm fascinated by the interconnectedness of math in our everyday lives. I enjoy cultivating genius and wonder in my learners by providing exciting real life examples to the topics I cover. From art to astronomy and whether you enjoy deep sea creatures or designing spiraling geometric patterns, we will explore our topic deeply in a memorable way.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts from The University of Chicago, where I combined coursework in neuroscience, media arts, and human development, and I am currently pursuing a Biomedical Engineering degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology. My academic journey has deepened my interest in applied sciences and innovative teaching methods.

This past year, I served as an International Teaching Fellow at YK Pao High School in Shanghai, China -- recently ranked the top bilingual school in China by Forbes (2024 & 2025). As part of this fellowship, I taught IB and IGCSE Physics and Chemistry to higher-level students, supporting their academic and extended essay research while facilitating differentiated instruction. I especially enjoy working with students in chemistry because it builds the foundation for so many other disciplines, from medicine to materials science.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in evidence-based instructional strategies such as scaffolded learning and formative feedback. I place a strong emphasis on building students' metacognitive awareness helping them grasp new material. I believe students learn best when they can reflect on how they learn, recognize their own knowledge gaps, and develop personalized approaches for long-term retention and problem-solving.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring emerging technologies like AI-powered design tools, working on creative projects, and learning new languages. I'm also passionate about cycling, rock climbing, swimming and traveling to new places to visit local train and local library systems.

Hobbies

Outside of teaching and research, I’m a hands-on creator and explorer. I have a strong interest in maker arts and design, including welding, painting, ceramics, weaving, crochet, knitting, and drawing. My curiosity for technology and sound led me to electronic music production, PCB and circuit design, and experimenting with interactive projects. I also enjoy outdoor activities like swimming, cycling, rock climbing, camping, and acro yoga, which keep me grounded and physically engaged. A lifelong admirer of urban environments and infrastructure, I spend time exploring public libraries, architecture, trains, and transportation systems. These passions fuel my creativity and inspire the connections I make between science, art, and everyday experiences in my teaching.
