I earned my B.A. in Mass Communications from Hampton University, and an M.F.A. in Film from the University of Southern California. Since completing my graduate work, I have worked as a professional writer on television series for Netflix, Warner Bros., MGM and Amazon. I have also taught filmmaking to elementary students and regularly assist peers and colleagues with their writing.

I am passionate about literacy and am a longtime volunteer with WriteGirl, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that encourages self expression through writing for girls and nonbinary youth, in addition to specialized programs that assist with college application prep. I have also volunteered with Young Storytellers, another Los Angeles based nonprofit in which elementary age students write original stage plays which are later performed by professional actors. In every instance, whether a student chooses to further pursue writing as a hobby or eventual career path, I believe that there is always value in creative self-expression. I have seen firsthand how the practice of writing can greatly improve students' confidence and critical thinking skills, which translates to all other areas of study as well.

I believe that all students have unique gifts and can be successful at any subject given the right guidance and encouragement. I believe that reading, writing and language arts can be fun, and my approach is tailored to each student's unique sensibilities. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults to help them reach and exceed their reading and writing goals.
