Certified Tutor
As a neurobiologist with a PhD from the University of Missouri, my passion for teaching has been fueled by years of experience in both research and education. My academic journey, which began with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana, has been enriched by a deep curiosity for the mechanisms of neural plasticity that influence behavior. Throughout this journey, I have remained dedicated to fostering a learning environment that nurtures critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that students thrive when they are empowered to explore complex concepts through hands-on experiences. In my role as a teaching assistant for the University of Missouri's Animal and Human Physiology Labs, I worked closely with students to ensure they understood not just the content but the relevance of these subjects to broader scientific and real-world applications. Guiding students through laboratory experiments and promoting active engagement has allowed me to cultivate their curiosity, problem-solving skills, and confidence in scientific methods.
In addition to my teaching experience, my research background in neuroplasticity and its implications in diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis has further shaped my approach to tutoring. By studying the autonomic neurons affecting bladder function in rodent models of relapsing-remitting MS, I have learned the importance of precision, patience, and perseverancetraits I pass on to my students. I strive to inspire the same dedication in them, guiding them to connect abstract concepts to practical applications in research and daily life.
Tutoring is an opportunity for me to not only share knowledge but also to learn from students. I believe in creating a dynamic and inclusive learning space where every student feels supported in their academic journey. As a tutor, I aim to inspire students to reach their full potential by fostering a collaborative environment that encourages exploration, critical thinking, and a passion for learning
