Casandra Saxon Physics & Math Tutor | Hands-On, Heart-Forward Learning
As an honors graduate in physics with a minor in mathematics, and a mother of four, I bring both academic depth and real-world empathy to every tutoring session. With over seven years of tutoring experience, including working at my university's tutoring center and the Upward Bound program, helping high school students, through teaching, access opportunities that transform their futures. I've supported students from diverse backgrounds in building confidence and mastery.
I believe that success in learning isn't about being "smart"it's about dedication, curiosity, and the right support. My teaching approach is rooted in brain-based learning strategies, Bloom's Taxonomy, and probing questions that guide students toward deeper understanding. I tailor each session to the individual, using pre- and post-assessments to track growth and adjust instruction.
I specialize in tactile, hands-on learning. Whether it's physics, math, or general study skills, I love helping students turn abstract concepts into concrete creations, something they can build, touch, and truly own. I maintain a notebook record for each student, where we save key materials, examples, and reflections from every lesson. It becomes a living record of their progress and a resource they can return to anytime. I also provide customized lesson plans, worksheets, and slides when needed, and I communicate ahead of time to ensure every session is purposeful and prepared.
Communication is key to my practice. I reach out 24 hours in advance to prepare materials and ensure every session is purposeful. I'm flexible with scheduling and always open to adjusting based on your needs. Whether you prefer email, text, or platform messaging, I'm here to make the process smooth and supportive.
Above all, I strive to be encouraging and easy to talk to. I want students to feel confident not just in the material, but in themselves. Let's work together to build the skills, mindset, and momentum needed to thrive.
