I enjoy helping others in any capacity and therefore when I realized my passion for math, I wanted to pursue helping others understand mathematics. A lot of people do not like math because they don't understand it. I enjoy puzzles and therefore I enjoy trying to fit the pieces together between people's understanding and the concepts of mathematics.

I taught high school mathematics (Math 1, Math 2, and Math 3 - regular and honors) my first 2 years of teaching. I also did my internship and long term substituting after graduation in the high school environment. I then moved to teach middle school mathematics where I have been for the past 5 years teaching, 7th, 8th and Math 1.

I received my bachelor's in Mathematics, Secondary Education from Western Carolina University.

While at WCU, I tutored in the math tutoring center on campus where I helped college aged students with whatever math class they were enrolled in. I mostly helped with College Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics. I also tutored local middle school and high school students in math. I even had the opportunity to tutor a current police chief when she was studying to take her exams to become the police chief.

Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with my family and church family. I love to cook and try out new recipes. I am currently taking classes towards a Graphic Design certificate, which puts two of my passions together, art and mathematics.
