I am an English language coach, specializing in ESL/EFL, and have been tutoring for Varsity Tutors since May 2022, consistently achieving four-star ratings. I have been teaching English for over 30 years in language schools, at university, and as a private tutor to students of all ages, levels and backgrounds. Having always loved language and literature, I received a BA in English (Film and Communication) with Great Distinction from McGill University in Montreal. Before that, my natural desire to help people had led me to obtain a diploma in Community Services at Centennial College in Toronto. I worked in a variety of settings, including Human Resources, before finding my niche in teaching. I help students improve their spoken and written English for social, academic or business purposes, and prepare them for all major exams, including Cambridge and Michigan Proficiency, TOEFL and IELTS. I also help students polish their college application essays and personal statements. My students say that, apart from my expertise, I bring warmth, humor and enthusiasm to all my lessons: I believe learning should be fun! My diverse interests make it easy for me to converse on a variety of topics, such as current events, the arts, science, politics, popular culture, movies, music, and almost anything under the sun that students want to tackle. As a well-travelled person with a multi-ethnic background, I bring a unique empathy and open-mindedness to my lessons. I look forward to helping learners achieve their linguistic targets in a natural and relaxed way, allowing for individual personalities and learning styles.
