I received my degree in elementary education at Bob Jones University in SC, in 2011. I then returned to my home in Brazil as a teacher at the Mission School. I taught children from underprivileged families many of whom were sent to the Mission school as a last resort. I taught all 4th grade subjects, as well as history, geography and language in the middle school grades. I am fluent in Portuguese and English. I have done special studies in Children's literature. I am concluding certification in Mental Health Coaching. I have spent the last year teaching Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.
While teaching in Brazil I became increasingly physically incapacitated due to a genetic connective tissue disorder and had to travel to the United States to seek medical help. I spent seven years in the hospital. Now, though I am still limited physically, I am again able to pursue my love of teaching.
I enjoy teaching reading, science, math and history. Recently my endeavors have been geared towards teaching students with learning problems. I seek to find out what the student's learning block is and find creative ways to reach him or her so that they can excel.
