For my teaching career, I spent 22 years in the Kansas City, Kansas School District 500. During that time I taught many various content areas due to being certified to teach K - 9. However, my first love was teaching reading, with a close second of English. Both of which I taught all 22 years. In addition, I am also a certified library media specialist.

The following are my degrees and location of my graduating institution:

AA: Stephens College; Columbia, MO. (Child Study)

BS: Southern Illinois University; Carbondale, IL (Photography/Radio - TV)

BS: Saint Mary's College (now University); Leavenworth, KS (Elementary Education)

MS: Emporia State University; Emporia, KS (Curriculum and Supervision)

And, along the way I have attended many other colleges/universities in order to achieve my degrees.

While I love school, reading was not my favorite class while growing up. In fact, I did not read my first book completely until 8th grade! Consequently, if you are not a fan of liking to read - I understand! I love to read now. As far as the writing aspect, I've worked hard to fine tune to my writing skills.

Along the way to where I am today, I have also had many types of other jobs: photographer, worked in a TV station, waitressing, and even cleaning houses - and many other jobs. With each one I give my best, no matter what the type of job. Currently, I am working at our town's public library. I love learning, meeting new people and trying new things. And - I miss teaching! For that reason I joined VT.

My hobbies include reading, crochet, and appreciating nature. Those are all easy to do since I moved back to my small town in which I grew up. After living 36 years in Kansas City, KS, I'm loving being "home".

As for my teaching style, I will give you my best and in return I am serious about wanting to help you become your best.
