What's up! I'm a professional artist here to help your student refine their art skills, learn exciting new kinds of critical thinking, and engage with the world around them through the art they already love!
I wear a lot of hats, but above all I write and draw comics, craft illustrations inspired by metal music, mythology, manga, and a ton of other things that don't start with the letter M, and perform in live art shows with Super Art Fight, the universe's greatest known art competition. I'm a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, with a BFA in illustration, and have been crafting and teaching dynamic, artistic, out-of-classroom learning experiences since 2016, with some of my clients including multiple branches of the Smithsonian. I also have extensive experience in the subjects of sociology, art history, and archaeology, and I regularly integrate all of them into my art practice.
I mostly tutor subjects in art and storytelling, with an emphasis of combining art/storytelling skills with critically thinking about history, pop culture, and current events. And I run on the ethos that you learn best when you're having fun! I put a lot of emphasis on active learning, unique out-of-the-box activities, and students learning to celebrate what's uniquely wonderful about their tastes and sensibilities. Whether or not your student has larger aspirations for their art or is just looking for a hobby, I thrive on using art as a means to teach important life skills, applicable in any field, like the pleasure of critical thinking and the importance of scrutinizing the world around us. I'm confident we'll be able to craft an enjoyable, educational experience together!
