Although I had always loved History and English in High School, I loved Science from when I was a young girl. After taking my ACT test to get into college, I realized I had a very strong aptitude for Science and Math. I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry in College. I also had a very strong interest in Psychology. After spending a number of years in ministry with my husband, I realized I wanted to do something myself, so I studied for a Master's degree in Psychology - Counseling. I worked in free clinics during my studies and as Pastoral counseling after receiving my degree. Our family left for West Africa as missionaries after learning French in Quebec. We lived in Africa for 4 years teaching at the local Bible College and ministering in the churches, all in French. After we returned I started teaching French at a local High School and when they realized I had a strong science background I started to teach Biology and Chemistry. I taught High School Biology for 14 years and then I decided that I would enjoy teaching at the College level, so I worked on my doctorate. While teaching High School I taught at a High School that was 98% Hispanic and because I grew up in San Diego, CA I understood much about Hispanic culture and language but I could see that many of my fellow teachers had little knowledge or desire to understand them. I determined to work on my dissertation on how Colleges could better prepare their students for learning about cultures and become more adept at intercultural communication. After receiving my doctorate we moved to a University that wanted me to be a professor. I have taught Psychology and Sociology for the past 10 years.

I love teaching, but most of all I love seeing my students learn. I have experience in teaching a large variety of subjects. I know that I can help you to gain mastery in the subject in which you're struggling. Think of me as a very intelligent grandmother who is on your side.
