I am in my senior year of college, studying Engineering Physics at Biola University, and am going into my third year of tutoring college-level physics. I have also been a private violin teacher for several years, and have worked as a professional pianist.
I love tutoring any physics-based courses, mathematics (particularly calculus), as well as courses such as music theory and composition. I have placed as a finalist in violin, piano, and composition competitions. In high school, I took 10 AP level courses, including calculus, and two years of AP physics, and would love to help out with AP test preparation specifically, as well as the content of the courses themselves. I would also be glad to tutor college level physics, mathematics, and engineering courses.
I am going into my senior year of engineering coursework, and have done several directed research projects of my own, particularly focusing on aeronautical engineering research. The project that I am leading involves conceptually designing and physically manufacturing models of idealized airfoils to test in aerodynamic efficiency (computational fluid dynamics) programs I have written in MATLAB.
When leading a tutoring session, I like to go through problems methodically, and break them down into their simplest components and concepts before explaining the full solution. I find that this way, complex concepts in calculus and physics become easier to remember, when they are grounded in simple principles. I love to draw attention to the way that complex subjects such as physics and calculus are ultimately reducible into simple and elegant equations, methods, and concepts.
Aside from studying engineering and music, I also find a lot of joy in reading, rock climbing, hiking, serving at my church, and climbing trees!
