I am embarking on a new career in education. After twenty-plus years I am leaving the cubicle world behind. I know I am not going to get rich by teaching but, entering middle age, I have learned that reaching for the brass ring does not bring success but pursuing your passion and interests does. I don't think you can be very successful in something you feel lukewarm about.
Years ago, in an attempt to practice my Spanish, I volunteered with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to teach English to native Spanish speakers. I found it very enjoyable and rewarding and I continued to teach for about a year. Fast-forward to 2017 and that experience teaching- along with a desire to change my career path- led me to seriously consider education.
Back in the fall of 2017, I knew I wanted to get into education but didn't quite know where to start and I had a great tuition reimbursement program at my work so I decided to pursue a Master's degree in Education. I have taken four courses and have a 4.0 GPA.
Helping and mentoring other analysts is one of my favorite parts of the workday at my job as a Senior Operations Analyst. I hope to be a great mentor to others through this tutoring platform.
