Mr. Fry's True to Life Story in His Journey in America
I firmly believe that my background, qualities of an effective teacher and experience as a licensed professional high school math and science teacher for almost 9 years in the Philippines afforded me the opportunity to apply at this company Varsity Tutors! I successfully passed my Licensure Examination for Teacher (LET) and NAPOLCOM ( National Police Commission) passer in the Philippines. Since my arrival in the U.S. on April 26,2018, I am almost 2 years now, I obtained my green card and social security card at hand. I am legal to live and work in this country. I started my first job in the U.S. as volunteer teacher in the local community and classroom helper without salary. As of February 7,2019, I landed a job as substitute teacher for long term and short-term subbing. This school year ended already. I am waiting for the next school year 2019-2020 to begin in August. Meanwhile, I am applying in your company as certified tutor specializing in Mathematics and Science which match my qualifications, academic background and qualities of an online tutor.
My best work achievement, I am promoted from Secondary School Teacher I to Secondary School Teacher III in my almost 9 years experienced as public high school math and science teacher in the Philippines. Since, I moved to the U.S.A, it is another achievement because of the long waiting period for the process of having a visa and a green card. In addition to that, another achievement; my foreign credentials evaluated by an accredited company named Foreign Credentials Service of America. Results released on April 14, 2019 into U.S. Equivalence namely Bachelor of Secondary Education concentration in Mathematics Education. Two semesters of graduate study in Mathematics Teaching and 14 semester credit hours of undergraduate study in Teaching Integrated Science. I am in the process of obtaining my Professional Teaching Certificate in one of the Department of Education in the US. I am also TESOL ( Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certified. My experiences as classroom teacher ,volunteer teacher, classroom helper, substitute teacher, library assistant, youth coordinator, guidance counsellor and property custodian are my steppingstones towards a more challenging job in the future and a successful teaching career in the U.S.
A difficult task I encountered is my adjustment of status. Since, my arrival in the U.S. on April 26, 2018. I couldn't work without a green card or employment ID from the USCIS. To adjust to the changing environments, food, lifestyles, and being homesick. These were big challenges for me. Fortunately, I faced all of this with dedication, perseverance, determination and strong faith in God. I am moving forward to a more challenging journey towards a great success in my teaching career, more stories to be told and challenging journey in America!
