As a learner, you are extremely important to me. The world needs you to know things, so you can help make it better. That's why I'm a teacher, and that's why I tutor.
I started teaching at the age of 23, almost thirty years ago now. I've lived and taught in Finland, France, England, Ireland, Israel, and the United States. I've worked with children as young as eight, and business executives as old as 82!
Not only do I love to teach, but I also love to learn. When I attended Eastern Michigan University for my Bachelor's Degree, I not only did a double major in Vocal Performance and Anthropology, I also pushed the edge of the envelope by graduating from the Honors Program as well.
When I got my first job in Finland, teaching English as a Foreign Language, I continued my education. Over the years, I earned both a Certificate and Diploma in Teaching English As A Foreign Language to Adults, and an M.A. from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. Years later, I even became a Paralegal through a terrific program at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
The subjects I most love to tutor are those in the Humanities: English, English as a Foreign or Second Language, history, political science, and social studies. I happen to be a fairly good test-taker, too, as I've made it a personal hobby to see how different tests are constructed and how test-writers come up with questions.
I too used to struggle in school. But over years of trial and error, I discovered how I learned best, and found the tools I needed. Everyone is different, including you. I can help you find out how you learn best, too.
I look forward to working with you!
