I am a senior at University of California Irvine finishing up my major in Pure Mathematics and Business Economics, and minor in Statistics. I am looking to go to graduate school for Statistics.
I have always had a passion for math and numbers. I have been tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, College Algebra, and Algebra test prep since summer of 2018. I prefer one-on-one tutoring, where I can directly make a difference in my student's progress. It makes me happy to personally see my students grow and do well in their classes and exams.
My philosophy with math is to take complicated concepts and break them down into smaller steps that are easily understandable to any student. I was able to help my first student this summer (who had not taken any math courses for three years) pass his Algebra 2 Orange Coast College placement exam in just three sessions. I also personalize every lesson for all my students based upon their strengths and learning styles, and prepare notes and homework to help consolidate their understanding of the material. My students often tell me how patient, kind, and encouraging I am, which I think are some of the most important characteristics a tutor can have for a student's growth.
