Hello,
I enjoy working with students and their families as a team to identify student skills, strengths, and success.

Furthermore, I take great pride in illustrating to students and their families how current skills, strengths, and successes can be used to achieve goals set in academic areas of need. Below is an excerpt from my resume that highlights my experience and philosophy of education:

"I am an eleventh year educator with teaching and supervisory experience that include: five years teaching seventh grade civics, one year teaching six grade World History at the Palm Beach School District (WPB, FL), and five years at an approved alternative education provider in Blair County, Pennsylvania.

As a teacher I have provided a progressive element to the
teaching teams I have worked with. In my classroom, students are the focus of my planning instruction not solely the subject matter. Students are engaged in an active learning environment that is driven by differentiated instruction, multiple intelligences, and learning styles.

In the supervisory role, I have helped to provide stability, organization, consistency, and support to a treatment program that faces unique challenges in providing education services to male and female adolescents. I have accomplished this through two specific initiatives. The first initiative was to actively use the Pennsylvania State Assessment Anchors which provided
thoroughness and consistency in the delivery of curriculum. The second initiative focused on the development of a classroom management plan rooted in Glasser's Choice Theory and Canter's Assertive Discipline. This plan provided three functions: clear statements of school expectations, organized rewards, consequences, and provided a therapeutic link between school programming and treatment.

These educational experiences have given me exposure to serving diverse populations. This exposure has increased my focus on pursuing professional opportunities with learning teams who value student centered learning with the goal of preparing young minds for vocational, college, and career success."
