I am a recent college graduate with a BA degree in English and I plan to attend law school in the fall. I read voraciously and love to write. I am passionate about helping students succeed in these areas.
I have experience working with students of all ages and skill levels. I can help students improve basic literacy skills (including phonics), reading fluency, vocabulary, and spelling. I believe that fostering a lasting love of reading should be among the primary goals when teaching students at this level and so I always strive to make my lessons creative, fun, and engaging.
When working with older students at the high school and collegiate levels I believe it is my role as an educator to help develop and hone the critical reading, writing, and communication skills they will need to succeed on their own as readers and writers in both their academic and professional lives. While I am of course, happy to help with homework, writing assignments, college application essays, etc. I prefer to use these as opportunities to help students develop effective research, planning, and revision strategies. Ultimately I believe that quality essays that reflect the student's best work are written using student-led, question-based peer tutoring methods.
More information about my background and skills is available on the resume included with my profile. I would welcome to meet with you in-person or on Skype to discuss how I can help you meet your goals this year!
