Giving students the tools they need for academic success also gives them the tools they need for career success and life success, and educated children and young adults are the cornerstone of our future. That is why I enjoy tutoring math specifically--it is so grounded in logic and problem-solving that students who learn how to excel at math will be able to handle most any situation life throws at them. I also have a passion for stories and the written word, so English is another favorite subject of mine.
I generally approach tutoring as an opportunity to teach students how to study and learn rather than to teach them information directly. This means that I ask a lot of questions and help students find the answer on their own. Hence, my goal with tutoring is to help the student develop enough skill at learning to make the tutoring unnecessary.
I am currently working toward a Bachelor's in Sciences in computer sciences from the University of Arizona, after which I will get my Master's of Fine Arts in creative writing.
