I am a graduate of the University of Florida. I earned my BA in English there in 2006, followed by my MA in Linguistics in 2008. My master's thesis focused on ESL pedagogy and second language acquisition. As a graduate student, and for eight years after, I worked at the University of Florida English Language Institute, UF's intensive English program for international students. At the UF ELI, I taught listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and pronunciation. I have also taught native English-speaking students at UF and Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL, in both linguistics and beginning English composition.
I love teaching. Making connections with my students, getting to know them better, and helping them achieve their goals is so fulfilling for me. I especially love getting to know international students. I am fascinated by other countries, cultures, and languages, and relish the opportunity to connect with students from all corners of the globe.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with my husband and our two children (ages four and two). I also love to travel, both in and outside the US.
