Hello! My name is Robin and I'm excited to tutor you!

I just graduated from Oberlin College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. Throughout college I studied many subjects, mostly in the natural and social sciences. I'm most experienced in math, English, and writing.

I'm an easygoing person and want our tutoring sessions to be as relaxing as they can be. As someone who used to be a stressed-out student, I have plenty of techniques for managing school stress and organization.

Can't wait to meet you!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Every student can excel in school when given the right support from their teachers, family, and tutors! As a tutor, I will adjust my teaching style to fit your learning style so we can learn on your terms.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know the student's learning style and learn how I can best tutor them. Introduce myself and talk about my experiences with the subject when I was the student's age and my academic path in high school and college.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I will allow the student to take the lead on work we do together and support them when they need support. I will also encourage the student to take risks, to make mistakes, and to learn from them.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will employ fresh learning techniques and approaches to our work so that the student doesn't feel that they are trying the same strategies over and over. I will connect lessons and material to real-life examples to ground the information and make it accessible for the student.
