What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy about teaching is to let the student learn the way they learn best. A teacher should be a resource for the student, not a taskmaster. I try to explain things in simple ways and make learning fun by figuring out which learning style appeals to the student.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would first assess what the student wants to know. Then I would figure out how much they know already. From there I would use the lesson to find the most effective way to teach them what they're looking to learn.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I would recommend some of the things that helped me. Depending on your level, you might need a website with a cheat sheet for when you forget the rules, or simply french tv shows to get you used to hearing the language.
