What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that all students given the right support can excel in mathematics. Students need a teacher who can explain complex math skills in a way that is easy and relates to them in order to help them become successful.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would introduce myself, ask the student what areas they are most struggling with and have them answer a few problems to see what issues they might be having.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By teaching them how to think through questions and apply what they see from example problems.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By providing them with meaningful activities. Also by helping the student to become successful, because success is one of the biggest motivators in anything.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Try another way of teaching the skill after figuring out what they are having difficulty with.
