What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Let's figure out where we stand. What are you great at and what do we need to work on? What do you know and where do you want to go? Once we've established where things stand, we can figure out how to reach your goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I help you develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become an independent learner. We'll go step by step at your pace.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Let's find what inspires you. Do you like sports? We can use sports to talk about grammar. Do you like music? We can use music to remember tricks or practice writing. Do you want to be a doctor one day? We can develop the tools you need to achieve those goals. Tying your learning to something you love or want will make learning more meaningful.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Let's try a different approach. There isn't only one way to learn. If one door isn't working, let's try another. We'll find a way that works for you.
