I am a dedicated tutor with flexible hours. I received my undergraduate education at Eckerd College, where I received a BA in literature and creative writing, and I am currently enrolled in Emerson’s creative writing MFA. I have experience teaching in classrooms from my two years working with AmeriCorps, where I taught 7th grade language arts. I am offering tutoring, for all grade levels, in grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, literature, essay composition. I am also offering tutoring in ACT reading and GRE verbal prep.

My overall favorite subject to teach is reading and literature. I feel it is one of the subjects that offers something for everyone. Improving a student’s reading comprehension, as well as finding literature that appeals to them, does more then anything else to instill a positive attitude toward education. Some of my other interests are writing poetry, chess, cooking and baking.

To work with the student to ensure they understand the concept, and haven't only memorized the answer.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
