I am a graduate of Mary Baldwin College. I received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Child Psychology and am certified from Pre-K – 5th Grade. I am also a graduate of Eastern Mennonite University. I received my Master’s in Education in Instruction and Curriculum with an emphasis in reading. I have been an elementary school teacher for 17 years and am currently a first grade teacher. I also have over 15 years tutoring experience. I have experience tutoring reading, math, and ELL students from Kindergarten – 6th grade. I tutor a range of subjects but am very passionate about reading.
Becoming a teacher is a second career for me. I worked in the business community for 16 years and realized that my passion is working with children. I love teaching and my passion is working with students. I particularly love tutoring students and building that one-on-one relationship with them.
I have high expectations for myself as a teacher as well as for my students because I believe each and every one of them has the potential to learn. It is my responsibility to give the students those opportunities as well as meet their individual needs in order for them to succeed. I enjoy reading, working out, and spending time with my family.
