I previously taught at Success Academy Bed-Stuy 1 from 2011 - 2014, where I was presented with the multiple challenges inherent in the first years of classroom teaching coupled with doing so in a somewhat experimental and evolving setting, proved to be a tremendous opportunity for my own professional growth. I was able to play an essential role in developing a comprehensive music program that provided scholars with a strong foundation in music theory, performance etiquette, and music history. It also provided them with a strong sense of character strengths, such as resilience and teamwork. Using the skills I attained here transferred over into my classroom when I moved to New Jersey as I began teaching 1st grade at THRIVE Academy in Newark, New Jersey. Here I developed innovative and comprehensive ways for each scholar to attain their academic and behavioral goals. Moving back to Brooklyn, New York I would like to continue to develop innovative and comprehensive ways for the scholars of New York City to reach their academic and behavioral goals as well.
